Welcome to the home page of Linda Lay, Sammy Shelor and Crooked Run. This recording unites one of bluegrass music's swetest voices with one of its most celebrated banjoists. Taking the Crooked Road Home features Linda (vocals and bass), Sammy (vocals and banjo), and David Lay, (vocals and guitar). Joining them for this session on making bluegrass music "Southwest Virginia" style are guest; Jeff Parker, (mandolin and vocals), Ron Stewart (fiddle) and David McLaughlin (mandolin and guitar).

The material draws from some of the top bluegrass writers. The title cut "Taking the Crooked Home" along with "Blow out the Candle Laura" are penned by Tom T. & Dixie Hall. The song "Bobby and Tommy" is written by Harley Allen and it will absolutely chill you to the bone. The material they chose were tunes that could very well have happenned along the crooked road. the moon shining song "Legend of Johny Clay" is penned by Daniel Sayler and the murder tune "Brambles, Briars and Me" is written by Tommy Freeman . The material on this CD runs true to their blue grass roots.

The new release on The Crooked Road music series is sponsored by the Virginia Foundation for the Humanitites and its sure to be a hit for the series. We have put together a great group "Crooked Run" to do concerts to promote the new CD. For bookings see contact page.
